With a rotator cuff tear you will have difficulty raising your arm through full range of motion overhead or behind your back.
With rotator cuff tendonitis you will be able to take your arm through full range but with pain.
Point tenderness on the side or front of your shoulder can indicate rotator cuff tendinitis as well. This area on your shoulder may also be slightly swollen and red.
