What is shoulder impingement?


When your rotator cuff gets "jammed" (see image below) between 2 bones in your shoulder joint (the acromion and humerus head) it sends a jolt of pain telling you to stop it! This "jamming" of the rotator cuff tendon is known as a shoulder impingement, or frozen shoulder.

Usually with lifting or turning your arm to the outside cause pain, even inability to reach your arm behind your back in many cases.

Why does this "jamming", "frozen shoulder" or impingement in your occur?
